DAY 1, TUESDAY 26 JULY
Make your own way to Bilbao and meet in the afternoon at the five-star Gran Hotel Domine, directly opposite the Guggenheim Museum.
Check in to your room before receiving your itinerary and a welcome to the trip from the Gastronomous team. Followed by drinks and supper at the hotel.
DAY TWO, WEDNESDAY 27 JULY
After breakfast, visit the architectural masterpiece that houses the Guggenheim’s collection of modern and contemporary art.
Transfer to San Sebastián for a traditional Spanish lunch hosted by José Pizarro.
Enjoy time at leisure on the beautiful local beaches of La Concha and Ondarreta.
In the evening, dinner with José at Mugaritz, one of the World’s 50 Best Restaurants (drinks to be paid for separately).
DAY THREE, THURSDAY 28 JULY
Take a private tour of San Sebastián’s Old Town with José.
Followed by a Pintxo Tour visiting José’s very special favourite tapas bars over a long lunch with pintxos and paired drinks.
Afterwards, time to explore San Sebastián at leisure, before a visit to the Basque Culinary Centre with José for a private cooking class. Under the watchful eye of José, learn to prepare and cook a menu before sitting down together to enjoy dinner with paired wines.
DAY FOUR, FRIDAY 29 JULY
Breakfast at the hotel and farewell to the group.
You may wish to extend your stay and enjoy this jewel of the Basque Country over the weekend.
